Key Topics Discussed:
- Consent Agenda: The Board reviewed and approved items included in the consent agenda. This included the tax collection report, police and animal control reports, and an update on the development of the district. Approval of the minutes for the December board meeting was tabled. Captain Dwight Thorton with Northlake PD discussed efforts for community education regarding scooter and e-bike usage in Harvest, as well as efforts of the Northlake PD officers over the course of December.
- Bookkeepers Report: The new district bookkeeper reviewed the district report with the Board of Supervisors, who approved the report.
- FYE 2027 Operating Budget & Special Action Items: The Board of Supervisors reviewed a draft of the District Operating Budget for Fiscal Year End 2027. A copy of the draft budget can be found here [link]. The FYE 2027 Budget will be approved at the next regular Board meeting. After discussion, the Board conducted an annual review of items such as investment policies, depository institutions, and disclosure notices.
- Communications Report and Community Engagement: The Board received updates on the District’s website, subscriber numbers for alerts and Facebook, and active/closed “Report a Problem” tickets. Road closure request procedures were discussed, and the Board instructed Triton to revise and update the road closure request procedures and form.
- Construction and Infrastructure Updates: The District engineer provided updates on solar street lights, tree removals, crosswalks, and district repairs.
- Board of Supervisors 2026 Election: The Board discussed the upcoming 2026 Board of Supervisors election. Belmont FWSD 1 will have 3 seats up for election this year. The Board authorized the designation of an agent of the Secretary of the Board, Notice to File, Notice of Election, Order Calling the Election, and contracting with Denton County to conduct the election. - Elecciones de la Junta de Supervisores de 2026: La Junta debatió las próximas elecciones de la Junta de Supervisores de 2026. El Distrito de Belmont FWSD 1 tendrá 3 puestos disponibles para elección este año. La Junta autorizó la designación de un agente del Secretario de la Junta, el Aviso de Presentación de Candidaturas, el Aviso de Elección, la Orden de Convocatoria a Elecciones y la firma de un contrato con el Condado de Denton para la realización de las elecciones.
